◉ Argus — Privacy Policy

Argus ("the app") is an AI companion that uses your device's camera and microphone, together with Google's Gemini Live API — a third-party AI service — to see, hear, and respond to you in real time. This page explains what data the app collects, how it collects it, and every use and third-party share of that data. Before Argus ever sends anything, the app itself asks for your explicit, in-app permission — this page is not the only place that disclosure is made.

What we collect

• Camera frames and microphone audio — streamed live to Google's Gemini Live API only while you are actively connected (i.e. after you tap to "awaken" Argus). This is never captured in the background.
• A display name you choose and a random identifier generated on your device the first time you use the app. We do not collect an email address or password, and there is no traditional account/login system.
• Preferences and context you share in conversation — things like dietary needs, allergies, shopping lists, and daily activity summaries — stored so Argus can remember them in future sessions.
• Approximate location (city-level), derived from your network connection, used only to give locally relevant weather context.

Who we share it with, and why

Google's Gemini Live API is the only third party we send your personal data to, and only for the purpose of generating Argus's live responses: camera video, microphone audio, and any stored preferences relevant to the conversation (e.g. allergies, so Argus doesn't recommend something unsafe) are streamed to it while you are actively connected. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Gemini API terms, which commit to not using data sent via the API to train Google's models and to comparable safeguards for how it's transmitted and processed. We do not sell or share your data with any other third party, advertiser, or data broker.

Your stored preferences, lists, and activity logs are kept in Google Cloud Firestore, associated only with the random device identifier described above — never with your name, email, or any other real-world identity we collect.

We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any third-party trackers. Weather lookups are sent to Open-Meteo, which does not require or receive any personal data beyond coordinates. When you ask Argus to search the web or look up a restaurant, the relevant query text is sent to DuckDuckGo's Instant Answer API to ground the response.

Data retention & deletion

Stored preferences, lists, and activity logs persist until you remove them. You can permanently delete all data associated with your device identifier at any time from within the app via Delete my data. This immediately clears the app's local storage and permanently deletes your record from our servers.

Children

Argus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
